JOHN HAWKINS

John F. Hawkins was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, October 2, 1968. John did his undergraduate work at Millsaps College, received his J.D., cum laude,from Tulane University and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1993. Prior to entering private practice, John clerked for Justice Michael Sullivan of the Mississippi Supreme Court.

John is a past President of the Mississippi Association of Justice (MAJ) and serves on the Key Persons Committee for the American Association of Justice (AAJ). John currently serves on the Rules Committee on Professional Responsibility for the Mississippi Bar Association and is vice chair of the Mississippi Bar Association's section on Labor and Employment Law. In 2009, John served as an adjunct law professor teaching pre-trial litigation for Mississippi College School of Law. John has also been selected as a member of Mid-South Super Lawyers.

Along with the rest of the firm, John is an avid supporter of Operation Shoestring, a non-profit interfaith ministry that provides programs and services promoting health and self-sufficiency of the needy. John is also very involved in the local community serving as President of the Jackson Arts and Music Foundation.

Additionally, John is a founding partner of The Better Mississippi Group, LLC. The Better Mississippi Group is an independent, non-partisan business based in Jackson, MS, dedicated to improving the state of Mississippi by encouraging good public policy; supporting issues vital to improving the state's quality of life; and encouraging effective, forward-thinking elected leadership.

John also enjoys playing music and writing songs. John and his wife, Dorothy, have three boys, Jack, Henry and Miles.
