OPERATION SHOESTRING

Founded in 1968 in the basement of Wells United Methodist Church, Operation Shoestring was started as an effort to promote racial harmony for the betterment of the community. Within a year, the program offered such services as medical clinic, tutoring services, food stamp assistance, an emergency loan fund and even more. Today, Operation Shoestring runs as an interfaith ministry becasue of the many volunteers who offer their time and support.

Operation Shoestring's Mission: Investing in the hearts and minds of our children and their families to promote healt and self sufficiency, and faithfully extending the hand of hope and opportunity to empower the needy, uplift our target neighborhoods and the larger community, and brighten the future fr us all.
